INTERNAL RULES OF PI KAUNAS HOSPITAL OF THE LITHUANIAN UNIVERSITY OF HEALTH SCIENCES

PATIENTS’ RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS AT THE INSTITUTION

  1. Patients’ rights:

25.1. the right to quality health care;

25.2. the right to choose a health care institution and a health care professional;

25.3. the right to information;

25.4. the right not to know;

25.5. the right of access to the records in their medical records;

25.6. the right to privacy;

25.7. the right to anonymous healthcare;

25.8. the right to choose between participation / non-participation in biomedical research and the training process;

25.9. the right to compensation;

25.10. the right to complain;

25.11. the right to choose diagnostic and treatment methods and to participate in health care issues;

25.12. the right to refuse treatment;

25.13. the right to conditions that do not degrade one’s honor and dignity and the respectful conduct of health professionals;

25.14. the right to exercise other patients’ rights provided for in the laws of the Republic of Lithuania, including the Law on Patients’ Rights and Compensation.

 

  1. Responsibilities of patients:

26.1. must get acquainted with these Rules, other internal documents of the hospital and perform the duties specified therein;

26.2. to the extent possible to provide healthcare professionals with information on their health, illnesses, surgeries performed, medications used and consumed, allergic reactions, genetic heredity and other data known to the patient necessary for the proper provision of healthcare;

26.3. to carry out appointments and recommendations of health care professionals or to refuse assigned health care services. The patient must inform healthcare professionals of any deviations from the appointments or regimens for which he or she has given consent;

26.4. to treat all Hospital staff and other patients with respect and dignity, not to discriminate or degrade the honor and dignity of hospital staff, other patients, visitors, to respect their rights;

26.5. for a patient who breaches his or her duties, thereby endangering the health and life of himself or herself and other patients, or obstructing their access to quality healthcare, the provision of healthcare may be terminated unless the life of the patient is endangered. The prescription for the violation is noted in the medical history of inpatient treatment;

26.6. to conserve, protect and timely return the received property of the hospital and to compensate the damage caused to the hospital due to their fault in accordance with the established procedure;

26.7. protect personal belongings;

26.8. timely and full pay for consultations and treatment according to the valid rates (if the services are paid in accordance with the procedure established by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Lithuania);

26.9. to follow the established agenda / treatment regimen in the ward, not to leave the ward and the hospital territory without permission, and to inform the ward or on-call nurse when leaving the ward;

26.10. if the state of health allows, self-handle his/ her bed and closet;

26.11. behave carefully and safely towards himself/ herself and others (do not sit on the windowsill, get up and get out of bed carefully, wear comfortable shoes, use nursing aids, seek help from staff).

 

  1. Patients receiving hospital treatment are contraindicated:

27.1. smoking, storing and consuming alcoholic beverages, psychotropic substances;

27.2. play gambling;

27.3. to take (bring in) animals;

27.4. damage the property of the hospital.

27.5. to disturb public order and order, as well as to take any other action to endanger the health or life of oneself and / or other persons, to violate public order or good morals.

  1. It is not recommended to bring large sums of money, jewelry and other valuables to the hospital, as the hospital staff is not responsible for their safety.
  2. Patients (their representatives), persons accompanying the patient, visitors are prohibited from filming, photographing, making sound recordings on the territory of the hospital, if this interferes with the performance of nursing and treatment activities by the hospital staff. Persons violating this requirement may be asked to leave the hospital premises.
